I haven’t been out riding at night for the longest time. Almost 10 months to be precise. Anyway, I went out tonight to my boss’ house to pay the last installment on the money I owed for my engine parts. Taking out my just finished chop as the sun was going down, balmy weather, on a warm road just after rain, fantastic.
I’m still bedding in the motor so I haven’t been able to really unwind my motor yet, which is hard for me as coming from speedway bikes I like wide open throttle. Already I can see this bike I’ve built has a lot of potential and the fact that I’ve molded everything around my own riding style means it’s already dialed in.
The Andrews B-grind cam is pretty lumpy with a moderately high lift, I retarded it slightly (About 3 degrees) so the power band sets in earlier than expected in the mid-range. Great top end roll on without hanging to wring it’s neck like most Harley motors. The lengthened front end makes a huge difference too, the ground clearance lets you really throw the bike into corners without fear of scraping and once again the mid range power band lets you pull nicely out of corners with minimum rear end slippage.
Like I said, I’m so stoked on this bike and can’t wait till I can really see what it can do.
Hope you’re having as good a night as I am.
